The Thread-3 Dossier: Soviet Anomalous Phenomena Research (1986–1991)

This exhibit presents primary source documents from the Soviet Thread-3 (Нить-3) research program alongside the engineering manuscripts of Valerijs Černohajev. The military orders—Programs "Horisont-MO" and "Horisont-AN" (1986–1990) and the classified Thread-3 substantiation report (1991)—mandated research into anomalous aerospace phenomena, non-traditional propulsion systems, and their military applications. The Černohajev manuscripts, contextually situated within the same period, address the precise technical domains specified in these orders: physical models for anomalous phenomena, propulsion system specifications, thermonuclear power generation, and magneto-hydrodynamic engineering. This exhibit presents the alignment between the institutional mandates and the technical works without asserting a direct relationship.
